Paul M. Hedeen is a retired Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at MCCC.  He is also an award-winning professor and writer and a Fulbright scholar.  He was a Full Professor of English at Wartburg College in Iowa and an Associate Professor at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.  He was a Fulbright Scholar in Ukraine in 2008. 

His critical and creative writing has appeared in numerous magazines and journals including The North American Review, Confrontation, Rosebud, Philosophy and Literature, Modern Fiction Studies, and many others. 

He coedited (with DG Myers) Unrelenting Readers: The New Poet-critics (Story Line, 2004) and cowrote (with Maryna Hedeen) Ukrainians in Michigan (MSU Press, 2023).  In addition to authoring two novels, The Knowledge Tree (Wide Water, 2013) and The Butterfly (BHC, 2019), he published two poetry collections: When I Think About Rain (Final Thursday, 2009) and Under a Night Sky (Final Thursday, 2016). 

If there are any agents or publishers out there, he is also “shopping” a new novel entitled The Killing.
